Rob was born in Wigan in 1978 and considers himself a ‘disco baby’. Wigan is renowned for its long history of great music and in particular nightclubs like Wigan Casino and Wigan Pier both of which lead the way in their respective eras.
Rob got the bug for DJIng in 1995 at the age of 17 from influences like Graeme Park and Stu Allen who were leading lights in Manchester’s ‘Madchester’ era. He almost instantly began playing in Wigan @ The Turnkey Nightclub playing house and eventually trance and Hard House and it was here he got to first play alongside Stu Allen his first influence. In 1997 He went to Germany and lived there until 2000 where he then played in some of the clubs in both Germany & Holland in the house & trance scenes.
In 2000 he returned home and returned to his first love House music. Quickly establishing himself in Manchester’s booming dance scene. Residency’s at Elemental in Manchester and various other places across the north of UK became home 3 and 4 nights a week in places like Leeds, Liverpool & Blackpool. In 2003 he became the World Record Holder for the longest DJ set with an eye watering 52hrs and 17minutes of constant mixing which the final few hours were broadcast across the Planet Radio network. He then met one of his eventual closest friends who happened to be promoting a house music event himself, this was the infamous ‘On A Plate’ these events saw Rob on the same billing as the likes of Danny Rampling, Alister Whitehead, Swedish House Mafia and his other major influence, Graeme Park.
Whilst continuing to play across the north of England Rob was now 35 and had given so much time to DJIng he felt a rest was deserved and went on hiatus. This lasted almost 10 years but after several nudges from his good friend he was brought back to the booth.
In the last two years Rob has gotten back to DJing every weekend and created two event promotions … 45Hi for new House & Tech house at which he tries to give young DJs the chance to get into the scene giving them chance to get heard. and this year celebrating 30 years of DJing has held Reunions for the original Wigan Club he started in … The Turnkey Reunion, both events have been a huge success already with much more to come.
Rob has now brought his experience to Radio and has begun hosting his own show with the emphasis on new House music mixed with his love of Disco and Tech House.
Rob is currently working on bringing a new dance music festival to start in 2025.
